The Wayland Department of Public Works will begin road construction beginning October 14, 2013 (weather pending). Most work will be performed in the evening hours between 7:00 pm and 5:00 am. Construction will begin on Commonwealth Road from Winter Street traveling east bound to the Natick line. Without any unforeseen setbacks, we anticipate to complete this project by October 25, 2013. This project is going to be fully funded by Wayland’s share of the State of Massachusetts Chapter 90 funding.
During the road construction you will notice several phases of activity:
- Milling and removing three inches of existing asphalt
- Placement of leveling course of asphalt
- Adjustment of all road structures
- Placement of finishing course
- Matching of any driveways or intersecting roads
Within the road construction time frame, any “on street parking” will be prohibited. On occasion you may encounter equipment and workers in the road. Surfaces may be rough, uneven, and unfinished, and may have raised structures. Please keep safety in mind: Keep speeds to a minimum, follow all signage and generally proceed with caution.
Any questions that you may have can be directed to the DPW Foreman on site. You may also call me at my office (508-653-4121) between the hours of 8:00 am and 3:00 pm, or contact me via email.
Sincerely,
Stephen F. Kadlik
Director of Highway Operations
